Artist’s Statement
Hi, I’m Will! I hope that this portfolio of my work gives a sense of my approach to portrait and event photography. I like to work outdoors and with natural light as much as possible. Being outdoors lends a sense of freedom and flexibility that shines through in portrait photography.
I like to keep things fun and relaxed. I can spot a fake smile a mile away, so if it takes jumping up and down or make farting noises to get kids (and/or adults…) to really laugh, I won’t hesitate for a second!
Finally, I approach most portrait sessions as a chance to capture a moment in time, not a pursuit of perfection. Kids get grumpy. Weather is unpredictable. Your tween insists on wearing that shirt you hate. I say let’s roll with it. We always get the one photo of everyone smiling for the camera for the holiday card, but my favorite photos are almost always the ones that just happen.
